Hamilton's newest sports facility is open for business. The Peak, on the Rototuna High Schools' campus in the city's northwest, was formally opened in August 2017 and is now hosting competitive and community sports for about 90 hours a week.
The result of a collaboration between the Council, the Ministry of Education and the Rototuna Schools Establishment Board and several sporting codes, the $9.2 million facility fills a significant gap in the region's sports landscape, says the Council's Community General Manager Lance Vervoort.

A $9.2 million recreation centre in Hamilton north opened on Monday morning.
The Rototuna Indoor Recreation Centre, a four-court complex, was officially opened by Prime Minister Bill English.
It was a double celebration - Rototuna Senior High School was also opened.

Built as result of a partnership between the New Zealand Ministry of Education, the Rototuna High Schools' Establishment Board of Trustees and Hamilton City Council, The Peak - a new indoor recreation centre in north east Hamilton - is an exemplar of a collaborative approach to regional facilities planning being championed and supported by Sport NZ.
Opened yesterday (28th August) by New Zealand Prime Minister Bill English, the new $9.2 million facility is the consequence of the Waikato Regional Sports Facilities Plan, which identified the need for indoor courts as a top priority for the Hamilton area.
